Life is hard. Ever since Eve took that first bite mankind has been struggling to find his way. We sweat and toil physically and emotionally we are screaming for deliverance. Our feet have become mired in the mud of circumstance. Do you feel like you are straining for that outstretched hand, desperately wanting to be saved before the mire sucks you under?
Are you in the mud right now? Life isn’t fair. You look at the people around your community and you are envious of where they are at. Oh, you know they have secret struggles. You know their lives are not perfect, but from the outside looking in it sure seems that way.
What should we do when we feel like this? When the bills have piled high on the counter and the baby is sick again and the rain has prevented your husband from working yet another day and your mother’s cancer has returned and you just cleaned up that mess only to have the boys track mud across the floor and your best friend suddenly passed away without warning and life just isn’t fair. It’s ugly and you feel like God has stopped caring. What do you do?
Praise. That’s right. It’s that simple. Praise God for your circumstances. Praise Him for the counter to pile the bills on, that you have been blessed with a baby, that you get to spend time with your husband, that you are fortunate to still have your mother alive, that you have a floor to clean, that you have all the wonderful memories shared with your best friend.
Praise Him even when you don’t feel like being thankful. Thank Him when the tears are streaming down your face as you wonder why Life throwing another monkey wrench into your plans.
Praise Him even when you don’t feel like being thankful. Thank Him when the tears are streaming down your face as you wonder why Life throwing another monkey wrench into your plans. You probably are not going to feel a sudden surge of gratitude for your circumstances. But eventually peace will come and even though life still isn’t fair, God is in control and He loves you. His heart aches for you.
